about the property....
The 401-acre Banning Ranch property is located between the cities of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and Huntington Beach.
The southerly border is along Pacific Coast Highway and the westerly border is along the Santa Ana River.
Banning Ranch is the largest parcel of unprotected coastal open space remaining in Orange County. The location of the property can be seen in the image to the right.
Entities have proposed residential development of the property as early as 1996. A complete historical timeline for the property may be accessed via this link or by clicking on the menu at the top of every page.
The property is currently operated as an active oil field and access is not allowed. A security company patrols the area on a regular basis and there are "No Trespassing" signs posted at every potential entry point.
